In the Spring of 2014, a group of Countryside Students competed in the second annual Aviation Design Challenge. The four team members, along with three alternates were, Michaela Warren, Quintin Rimpson, Michael Peters, Allen Warren, Starlea Robinson, Tatiana Shaw, and Jonathon Bradshaw. This dedicated group of students worked after school through the months of March and April to learn flight simulation and aircraft design principles. At the end of April they submitted their unique modifications of an existing aircraft design, to contest organizers. More than eighty other teams around the country also submitted designs, and from these a winning team was selected. Countryside scored in the top ten nationally, and with that score demonstrated that our students can compete with the best. The Glasair pictured here was built by a high school team that won the 2013 Aviation Design Challenge. In the Spring of 2015, a group of students from Countryside will compete with the objective of winning a chance to be the next group to spend two weeks in Washington assembling a Glasair. This, while they build new skills, construct new goals, and give refined shape to their own future. |
