Airventure 2012
I've been going to Oshkosh (that's pilot talk for the annual EAA convention hosted by the Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin) for over thirty years. I've described my first trip in a Blog post on this site. Through the years, I've attended with family, friends, alone, and once with two complete strangers. For most of my teaching career, I'd thought about what a great experience it would be for some of my aviation enthusiast students to attend, but I wasn't able to put it together until the summer of 2012.
The three guys, three of my daughters, and my wife and I, drove to Oshkosh and camped for four days. We arrived late Suday evening, set up our campsite and ate a good supper. On Monday we introduced the guys to "Oshkosh". It was probably the hottest day I've ever spent there. A real cooker. The rest of the week was cooler and quite pleasant.

The video clip below is kind of "you had to be there". I asked the guys to give advice to students who might attend in the future. This is what I got. Each of the three guys have affirmed that they want to return for another Oshkosh experience.
