AIRVENTURE 2014
In 2014, Countryside participated in the Aviation Design Challenge. As students competed, we talked about attending "Oshkosh" (that's pilot talk for the annual EAA convention hosted by the Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin). The accompanying video gives a pretty good sense of that trip, attended by six students and my family. My wife Lynda, who is under represented on camera, spent most of the week maintaining a spectacularly well organized and well stocked campsite.
The weather was a challenge. I left Oshkosh determined to return with a larger group of Countryside students as soon as we can work out the logistics. One major conundrum to surmount will be, tents. We had a couple of major driving rains that overwhelmed our less than robust equipment. Our campsite fared better than some but we were not as prepared as we need to be. The students were always amiable and uncomplaining. They made the trip one of the most positive and memorable of my teaching experiences. Ever.
You may recognize a few faces that were building birdhouses back in 2010.
